Overview
Bank Rec Online allows you to remove an entire imported bank statement or General Ledger (G/L) file when records were imported incorrectly, duplicated, or no longer needed.
When an import is deleted, all transactions associated with that specific import session are removed from the reconciliation. If any of those transactions were previously matched, Bank Rec Online will automatically remove the related matches.

When Should I Delete an Import?
Deleting an import is commonly used when:
- The wrong bank file was imported
- The same file was imported multiple times
- An incorrect General Ledger file was loaded
- You want to start the reconciliation process over with new data
Because the deletion is performed at the import-file level, Bank Rec Online removes all records associated with that specific import session.
How to Delete an Imported File
Step 1: Open Delete Entire Import
From the Home menu, select:
Delete Entire Import
The system will open the Import Logs Report, which displays all previously imported files.
Step 2: Review the Import Log
The Import Logs Report displays:
- Bank and G/L imports
- Import date and time
- File name
- Number of records imported
- Total dollar amount
- Import source information
Review the report carefully to identify the correct file before proceeding with deletion.
Why This Matters
The Import Logs Report helps distinguish similar imports and reduces the risk of removing the wrong data.
Step 3: Select the Import to Delete
Click the desired import record to highlight it.
Once selected:
- Click the Delete (Red X) button on the toolbar.
- The selected import will be marked for deletion.
Only the highlighted import will be removed.
Step 4: Confirm the Deletion
A confirmation message will appear.
- Click Yes to permanently delete the import.
- Click No to cancel the deletion.
After confirmation, all records associated with that import are removed from the reconciliation.
What Happens After Deletion?
When an import is deleted:
✅ All records from the selected import are removed.
✅ Any matches involving those records are automatically removed.
✅ Remaining transactions and reconciliation data are preserved.
Important
Deleting an import does not affect records from other imported files. Only the records associated with the selected import are removed.
Best Practices
Verify Before Deleting
Review the Import Logs Report carefully to ensure the correct file is selected.
Delete Duplicate Imports Promptly
If the same file is imported multiple times, remove duplicate imports before performing matching and reconciliation work.
Re-Import After Corrections
If the source file contained errors, correct the file first and then perform a new import after deleting the original data.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. Can I delete only a few records from an import?
No. This feature removes the entire import session. If you only need to remove individual transactions, use the appropriate record management tools within Bank Rec Online.
2. What happens to matched transactions?
If imported records were matched, Bank Rec Online automatically removes those matches when the import is deleted.
3. Can I undo an import deletion?
No. Once confirmed, the deletion cannot be reversed. If needed, re-import the original file.
4. Will deleting a bank import affect my General Ledger records?
No. Only records associated with the selected import are deleted. Other imports remain unaffected.
5. Why can't I find the file I imported?
Use the Import Logs Report to review import history, including file names, dates, record counts, and totals to help identify the correct import.
