Step 1: Open the ACH File Setup Wizard
Access the ACH Setup Wizard by clicking either the ACH Setup tile on the ACH Universal Online Home Page or by choosing the ACH Setup icon in the left navigation bar.
Step 2: ACH Setup: Quick Setup (ACH File Header Info)
The ACH File Header information identifies the bank account that is paying or receiving funds and includes your bank information.
ACH File Header Info
- If you received this information from your bank, enter it exactly as noted.
- If you did not receive the information from your bank, follow the text in the wizard.
- Alternatively, suppose you have already created ACH files using Notepad or another software process, and you have access to this file. In that case, ACH Universal Online can import the settings from that ACH file. Click on the 'Upload ACH File' button to populate the ACH file header information.
Standard Entry Class Code
- Choose CCD if the other parties are corporate accounts (i.e., vendor payments and customer collections)
- Choose PPD if the other parties are individuals (i.e., payroll)
- If your file includes both CCD and PPD accounts, the setting here will be the default setting, and you can identify the accounts by mapping the SEC code in either the profiles or on the import file.
Proceed to Step 4 (Generate Test File) unless the Company ID differs from the Immediate Origin ID. If the Company ID is different than the Immediate Origin ID, please proceed to Step 3 (ACH Setup: Advanced Setup).
Step 3: ACH Setup: Advanced Setup
The Advanced Setup tab allows you to adjust the Batch Header Info to match your bank's requirements.
The information will be pre-populated with the information entered on the Quick Setup screen. If your bank requires a Company ID that differs from the Immediate Origin ID, please delete the pre-populated number and enter the Company ID given to you by your bank. Click 'Save Changes'.
Step 4: Generate Test File
We recommend that you create a test file to send to your bank to make sure that the file header settings and the batch header settings match the bank's requirements. You can generate this test file by using 'Create a File Manually.'
Enter the Name, Bank Account Number, ABA Routing Number, Payment Amount, Date, and choose either Debit or Credit. The ID Number, Email Address, and Addenda Record are optional. Click 'Save' after entering your data.
After clicking 'Save', you will be taken to the 'Unprocessed Records' screen. Please confirm that your entered data is correct. Then click 'Create ACH File' in the left navigation bar.
Click on 'Create File'.
You will receive a notification confirming that your file has been created, but has not yet been transmitted.
To save the file, click Download and choose the location where you would like to store it.
Please send your test file to your bank for validation.
If the bank indicates that adjustments are needed, contact our support team. We’ll gladly assist you in updating your settings to ensure your ACH configuration meets the bank’s requirements.
