Q: I'm the administrator - how come I can't connect to the AWS Instance (virtual machine)?
A: Most likely:
IP Address has changed (is wrong), or
The Instance (virtual machine) is off.
The first step to troubleshoot is to log onto your AWS account and then navigate to the Instance Management page. Here you can confirm that the IP Address and that the instance (virtual machine) is running (on).
Q: I'm a user (not the administrator) - how come I can't connect?
A: Your administrator will need to perform the steps above.
Q: Do we need to backup our data?
A: Yes, absolutely. Instances can--and do--crash.
We highly recommend that you back up your database (either brd files or SQL databases) in the same schedule as you would if it was hosted locally. Easiest method for desktop brd files is to use Treasury Software's backup feature and then move them using a web based storage system (ie DropBox, Box, etc...).
