The international (IAT) format requires the Advanced (Processor) edition.
Cross-border transactions require the IAT format, for example, from a U.S. bank to a Canadian bank, or a Canadian bank to a U.S. bank.
Knowledge of IAT
The IAT format is a fairly complex format compared to our other formats, such as CCD and PPD.
For example, instead of four required fields for CCD and PPD (Name, Amount, ABA/Routing and Account number), there are over forty different fields required by IAT.
Be sure that you are set up with your bank for IAT processing. This is a different type of ACH service that would need to be approved by your bank.
1. First, create a new account in ACH Universal specifically for IAT format.
File >New account >Create an account... give it a name like 'International'... continue until Finished.
2. Click on the Settings tab
Click on Settings >IAT Settings
Enter the Gateway Operator number, select the radio button for a U.S.-based or non-U.S.-based bank account, and choose the 'Simple IAT' selection (middle radio button)--and Save Settings.
[Be sure to obtain the Gateway Operator number from your bank. Often, this is the same as your ABA Routing Number, but not always].
3. Create the default Profile
Complete the fields on the left side. This will create a profile in the software for the company that will be paying or receiving funds. If you will be creating one transaction at a time, you'll want to create profiles on the right side as well.
You have the option of adding transactions one at a time or importing an Excel or CSV file.
Add a Record - for single transactions
If you are not familiar with the complexities of IAT, we recommend that you use our 'Add a Record' interface which can walk you through the process:
Import a File - for single or multiple transactions
If you choose to import an Excel or CSV file, remember to map all fields! All fields noted below are required to be mapped - even if they are empty (blank), or of $0.00 amount.
Failure to import all of the fields may result in the inability of ACH Universal to create a proper transaction; while other omissions may allow the transaction to be created, ultimately the file may be rejected by the NACHA network.
If you use the mapping template 'International - IAT', we have pre-mapped the fields to match the template supplied with the Excel file 'International - IAT.xls'.
Of course, you can certainly map your own template.
Mapping Fields
Below are screen shots of the fields as shown in the Sample account, along with Sample data.
We recommend using the file below as a template (included with ACH Universal):
C:\Users\Public\Treasury Software\Tutorial\ACHData\International - IAT.xls
Note: The data samples below indicate the range of data that should be imported.
